How to create a hot-selling
product for the internet

Dear Friend,

As I'm sure you realize, one of the critical things you need to develop is your own product. An INFORMATION product, that is. The reason why is that having your own product means you have something you can sell and keep all the profits.

Now some people like to sell others people's products when they first start off. No problem with that. In fact, it's a great way to begin, and we'll talk about that in just a moment.

But your end goal should always be to have your own product. This way you have something tangible. Something you're in control of. Something where OTHER people can help sell your product for you, so that there's less work for you to do.

Agree?

You want to be the … general of the army, not the soldier in the trenches.

Now a great way to get started in creating your own product very quickly is via this website:

www.gutenberg.org

This is the place where you can pick up products which are already made for you. Have you checked it out yet? Depending on where you are on your internet journey it could be the ideal way for you to get your toes wet.

Meaning you can focus more on the marketing of the product, instead of the creation. And the great thing about this method is that you can add your own touch to the product, by adding commentary or your own additions.

Definitely worth a try. And you'll be amazed at how much you learn from doing this process.

In fact, I'd say that even in the worst case scenario you don't sell a thing, what you learn from just going through the process alone, will be worth thousands of dollars to you. And remember…

"The Internet Is The Cheapest Place To Fail!"

It's important that you make as many mistakes as you can. Mistakes are good. Get them out of the way.

So get busy making them. I've learnt so much from making mistakes. Of course, by taking the course that you did with me, we've already eliminated a huge amount of mistakes that you would have made.

If you're having trouble getting started, Gutenberg.org is a great place to make things happen. In short they allow you take any of the thousands of public domain books which are there and sell it without any profits due to them. A nice place to get your feet wet in terms of selling ebooks.

Gutenberg itself is a great place to research what people want – their Top 100 books shows how many downloads are happening every day. Very powerful.

But when it comes to researching your marketing there are other tools you can use too like:

www.yahoogroups.com

www.marketsamurai.com

www.buzz.yahoo.com

www.43things.com

These allow you to see what competition is out there. Now in the end you'll need to use your common sense too, but do at least check out what is happening in the market place. In fact, it can only help your success.

Another site that is worth looking at to find out what is hot right now is:

www.technorati.com

Allows you to see instantly what is being searched for online. Geez… this stuff is amazing isn't it? If only people doing business in the offline world had such an unfair advantage. People doing business on the internet are very lucky indeed.

Now, if you're ready for the next level, then it's time to create your own original products. This is where the fun level steps up a notch. You'll remember that at the Lightbulb Experience, you actually did this LIVE. Remember the interview question template I gave you? Remember actually interviewing a fellow participant LIVE in the room?

Question is, what are your plans for using this technique for your product?

Do you have a product in mind already?

Interviewing an expert is the quickest and most effective way to create a product from scratch. As I said in person, the first product I ever created was a really quite average taped interview with a mail order expert. Yet it sold over $30,000 worth in the first year. For $97 I sold an audio tape and a transcript of the call. I was hooked. In fact, I loved the whole process. And still do till this day.

Even if you haven't got someone in mind to interview yet, it's very important that you interview SOMEONE. Anyone. Just get one in the bag.

Again, make all your mistakes right up front. Your ‘ums' and ‘ahhhs.' Your stutters. Your poorly chosen recording location – the lot!

I recommend you buy an MP3 recording device. Or, begin using a telephone service called:

www.nocostconference.com

Here you can interview someone just by having them call in to the line. It can even record it for you. Sweet!

Or an alternative is calling someone via:

www.skype.com

And then recording it with the software:

www.pamela.biz

Or, if you want to record your Skype Video call you can use this cool software:

www.vodburner.com

And for transcribing the call, go to:

www.castingwords.com

Brilliant rates and great turnaround times.

So really… in a matter of hours you could have your first product in the bag, and the transcription too. Very exciting. After this, it's time to think about getting more interviews, or about selling the one you have (depends if you want to have a $30 product or a $500 one remember?).

You can choose. Just don't let the “perfectionist” inside you take over remember?  Perfect as you go my friend … perfect as you go.

Lastly, a word about selling other people's products. As I mentioned at the top, it's a great way to go when you're starting off. It means you can get your hands dirty very quickly and without much fuss.

The place I recommend you go is:

www.clicbank.com

They have so many people here offering to let you sell their product for them on commission. Please check it out and learn as much as you can about it. Start an account and get in the game.

I know plenty of people who revolve their whole business around clickbank. They don't have a product, they just recommend other people's sites. And they make a full time living out of it.

You will even find support products for your own product, that you can offer to your customers later on.

SO LET'S TAKE SOME ACTION OKAY?

1) What is your product going to be? Please be precise:
(Writing it down here will help you to get very clear on your product - remember "clarity is power." )
