"How
To Smartly Guarantee Your Success Before You Roll Out Your
Product"
Dear Friend,
Back in 2002 I flew over to Phoenix,
Arizona with money that I really didn't have, to spend 3
days at a seminar with one of the true kings of marketing.
In the process I learnt a very valuable thing about business
which literally gave me an unfair advantage.
And I've used this lesson
ever since.
I learnt it from a guy called Gary
Halbert. One of the USA's best ever copywriters. Sadly now
he's gone. But his legacy still remains. In fact, before I
go on, I want to give you a link to his website where there
is a ton of free information that could literally turn you
into a millionaire.
Truly, many of the letters here will give
you laser-like focus on what it takes to be really
successful in marketing and in creating your own product.
Here is the website to go to:
www.thegaryhalbertletter.com
You'll want to scroll right down to the
bottom so you can click on a link and access his amazing
reports.
Now what I learnt from Gary was this:
Your
marketing can be very average ...
you can know very little about what to
say or how to say it ... and you can even have a
product that is quite average too - IF you have a
starving market to sell to.
His analogy was that it doesn't matter how
great your product is ... or how fantastic your marketing is
... a person who has a hungry market to sell to, will beat
you every time. See, what's important is selling stuff that
people want. NOT what you want to sell.
But what THEY want to buy.
It's not about you okay? It's not about your
passion ... or your hobby. If your hobby happens to be what
many other people are crazy about too, then great.
Ultimately, the person who you must focus
on the most is the one who is going to be giving their cash
to you. It's THEIR concerns, THEIR wants, THEIR passions
which will make you rich.
Which could mean you need to sell toilet
seats if that's what people want. Or those big plaques with
bear's heads on them. It's your choice.
You can either do it the hard way... or
the easy way. And the easy way starts with finding the hot
market... that starving, hungry, ravenous, must-have-it-now
market.
What do I mean?
I'm glad you asked. Think
about this:
You're lost in the desert and you are
thirsty... you haven't drunk water for days ... your
mouth is as dry as a dusty road ... your body is weak
... your head pounds with a crushing headache - then as
you stumble through the desert you find a water stand.
Luckily, you have $2 in your pocket.
So you drag yourself to the water stand. You lean
against the counter and look at the icy fridges in front
of you stocked with bottles of fresh water.
Do you think
you would spend any time at all deciding which brand of
water to order? Would the
colour of the logo matter? Would it make any difference
what type of headline they used to sell the water? Or
would you grab the first bottle that was put in front of
you, rip off the lid and slam it down?
You'd take anything you could get right?
MY POINT:
Your goal is to search for a market like this. A market so
crazy to get what they want ... so committed to getting it
... that your marketing, your website, your colours, your
headline and whatever else become secondary.
Can you see that this is what you need to
do? So if 3-4 weeks into your internet journey, you are
struggling to get some solid results, maybe it's time to
think about this.
EXAMPLE:
Many years ago I found out that "Scrapbooking" was a huge
craze. Didn't know a thing about it. But I found out that
the market was crazy about this hobby. They would buy
anything and everything about the topic.
So what did I do?
Did I say, "well scrapbooking doesn't really do anything for
me so I'll keep looking?"
Nope. I recognised that this was what Gary
Halbert was talking about - A HUNGRY MARKET.
Long story short, I made an information
product for that market which made $30,000 a year for 2
years straight on virtual auto-pilot. Even these days I make
$11,000 a year from that site (and I literally do
nothing to it).
So I did virtually no work, but made a
good sum of cash. Why? Because I found a hungry market.
So while in your case, I can't be sure
what I'm about to say is true, I suspect that it might be:
AS
YET YOU HAVE NOT DONE ENOUGH RESEARCH
INTO FINDING YOUR
HUNGRY
MARKET.
Isn't this true? And if it's not,
then great... go about your business. But if it is, then I
hope you realise the power of what I've just passed on to
you.
You already know how to create the product
- I covered this on the "PRODUCT" lesson page. So this is
easy stuff. Remember? Doing interviews? Interviews are your
secret tool for creating a killer product.
I even gave you some website to help you
research your market. But below are a few more you'll want
to check out:
www.goodkeywords.com
www.googleeasysearch.com
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com -
will instantly tell you what words
people are typing into search engines and how many
competing websites there are.
www.terapeak.com
- actually, this is
the secret
tool that Amanda Clarkson (who earns
$50,000 a month on eBay) uses to research hot markets.
Why? Because it will actually tell you what people are
BUYING online. It will even help you to figure what
PRICE is hot too. Get it. Use it. It's fantastic.
www.technorati.com -
allows you to see instantly what is
being searched for online. Geez… this stuff is amazing
isn’t it? If only people doing business in the offline
world had such an unfair advantage. People doing
business on the internet are very lucky indeed.
These tools above allow you to see
what competition is out there. Now in the end you’ll
need to use your common sense too, but do at least check
out what is happening in the market place. In fact, it
can only help your success.
-
Close to home.
These hungry markets can actually be right under your
nose. Your local newsagent or bookstore can be great
places to get ideas. If magazines and books are being
created, then chances are that there is a market for
them. So get out there and see what you find.
-
eBay is another great place.
This is a great tool in itself for find out what people
are buying these days. You don't have to sell anything
on there, just use it as a tool of research.
-
Groups where people hang out
and ask questions: like
www.yahoogroups.com and
www.googlegroups.com and see what they're
asking and talking about - this is a killer way to get
inside info on niche markets
I would say that spending 4 to 5 hours
researching the market is going to be the best time you ever
spend. And truly this is the secret most of the successful
internet marketers - they SELL what people WANT. So you must
do the same, or you'll make it much harder than it needs to
be.
Try to find 3 hot niche
markets. Then choose your favourite to work
in. And goodness, even if you get it wrong after all this,
what you learn along the way will be priceless.
Lastly, it may sound like a lot of work.
But remember, it's about doing the work now so that you
don't have to work later on!
TIME TO TAKE ACTION...
1) What
are 3 niche markets that look hot to you now that you've
done your research? Please be precise:

HOMEWORK
-
Decide right now to set aside time in
the next 24 hours to start doing your research. Time
spent doing this is SOOOO valuable. And saves you so
much effort and heartache later on.
-
Make sure you do the 3 exercises
above. When you think you've got a beauty, go for it.
Talk soon.
Warmly, Brett McFall
P.S. Please listen to this interview I
recently did with someone who used to be a position perhaps
similar to you, Chris Elmore:
